Development of new data registration functionality for NOBIL
Since NOBIL was created in 2010, the number of Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and charging stations have greatly increased, and consequently the administration of data has become more time consuming, both for the NOBIL-administrators and the CPOs themselves.
In the beginning of 2019, the Swedish Energy Agency reached out to NOBILs owner, Enova, with a request to develop NOBIL and increase both its data quality and quantity in the Nordic countries. As a result, NOBIL was included in the project “Sustainable Nordic Cities with focus on climate-smart mobility”, specifically “Subproject 5 – Nordic database for charging stations”. The project manager is the Swedish Energy Agency. The project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
After several dialogue meetings with multiple Nordic CPOs, and a completed feasibility study for further development, it was decided to develop new functionality for automatic data registration.
The new data registration functionality is an implementation of a new OCPI v2.1.1 interface, which will allow CPOs to automatically publish data to NOBIL. Since multiple CPOs can utilize the same back-office system, integrating one system can connect NOBIL to multiple CPOs at the same time, given that there is an agreement between the individual CPOs and Enova. Enova has made successful contact with several CPOs in the Nordics, some which are prepared to make use of the new data registration in NOBIL at launch, and others may connect further down the road.
Enova started the development on the new data registration functionality in early 2020, and it is planned to be in operation in the middle of November 2020.
We hope that the new functionality will increase NOBILs value for all the users of NOBIL, may it be CPOs, service providers, data analyzers or others.
